tbh I don't even like interacting with people who aren't out of college yet in my fandoms (assuming they're in college right out of high school).

There's just this maturity gap that I've noticed by and large. I just want to have discussions about the canon; I don't give a flying fuck about this cute boy in your Bio lecture lolololol or this omg 1500-word history essay you've been putting off for two weeks.

That's called being friends instead of just discussing canon. Just tell people you only want to talk about canon and not make friends. I'm well over 40 but I still talk to my friends about people that I'm attracted to and occasionally confess to procrastination. It's just I procrastinate about different stuff because I've been out of school for a while.
