I used to be apathetic about covering up my age. I got pissed off, admittedly, when many people would block me from their LJ or stop talking to me, linking me to certain fics, or reccing me things if they found out I was underage. It was pretty damn condescending and downright alienating, and I hated it when people did that (and in a few extreme cases/reactions, hated the people who did them).

Then someone pointed out to me that it could pose a legal challenge, and I started putting in more effort into covering up my age, at least on the "official" front (wherever it could be seen/accessed by someone other than the person I was directly addressing), give or take a couple slip-ups. And while I know more people were upset at my real age because of their own delicate sensibilities than their own legal defense, it was a lot easier on me to just not ask and pretend otherwise. :)

Just wait until you're 18, OP, and then let the world your true age! ^_^
