I've been reading smut since I was 12, writing since 14 or 15 and now I'm 19. I was no more mature the day I turned 18 than I was the day before. Would you really feel any differently about knowing I was reading your fic at 17 than you would if it was one day later? What if someone started writing a smutfic when they were 17 and finished it when they were 18? Would half of that fic be morally ok and the other half not? Some people seem to think there is a difference, which baffles me. I mean, yes, there's a difference between say, a 10 year old and a 18 year old, but a 17 and an 18 year old, not so much.

Now, RP is different because you are directly conversing with someone else. I never lied about my age to a person, just the 'yes I am 18' button because I understand that people might worry about legality, but the morality? That I completely don't understand, you were under 18 once too, why on earth would you suddenly start viewing current under-18's any differently than you viewed yourself? Unless you really did think sex was inappropriate at that age, in which case, uh, sorry for your crappy upbringing and/or sex ed?

The whole must-be-18 thing is ridiculous to begin with. The age of consent is lower than 18 in a LOT of places (16 here) but somehow it's supposed to be ok for teenagers to have sex but not ok for them to read or write about it? What the hell is this logic? If anyone who is pubescent wants to read my fic (not converse with me, just read it) then good for them.
