Honest question: should I bother with this show at all? The fandom hype is turning me off it week by week, but at the same time I'm afraid I'm letting fandom stupidity keep me from something good.

FTR, I do not give a single constipated turd about shipping. I just want to know if this show is good enough to bother with despite the fandom being a bunch of entitled shits.

Try it! The episodes are really short, so it's not like it would waste a lot of your time even if you end up not liking it. I love it so far and I haven't watched ATLA.

So far it's pretty mehhhh. The action scenes are pretty but the story isn't doing much for me right now. Hopefully they fucking move on and give us more plot.

I love how the action scenes are done. Korra/bending is my OTP. (I can't wait till she learns to airbend, that scene where she went through the spinning gates was gorgeous!)

Yes, this. If this show solely revolved around Korra, Amon, Tenzin, and his family (particularly Meelo), I'd be happy. I don't care about the brothers at all. Asami just kind of bores me.

The show is actually pretty good with gorgeous art and backgrounds. Although it's pacing could be better and I'm not sure where ep 5 ties in yet. It's the fandom that is horrible. Honestly, most of what I've seen in fandom after an episode airs is all shipping wank and how much X sucks and how hot Y is. Very little on actually discussing the plot.

But i might be hanging in the wrong part of the internet.

I personally want to see how the Equalists are sorted out considering I reckon they have some valid points - also more of the city/advancements

Seconding amanda_violet. I've actually not run into much of the wank because I don't use Tumblr. I'm a total fic-and-discuss type fan so I just post fic and otherwise stick to LJ, fandom-wise. For all the relentless wank everywhere else, the non-shipping LJ LOK comms are pretty good. And the show itself is great! :D Don't let fandom stupidity bring you down!

It's very good, but fair warning, it is a bit fast-paced plot-wise. The creators only had a single twelve-episode season to work with when nickelodeon green-lighted the project and only got renewed for a second season much later so the conflict of this season is apparently going to wrap-up this season.
