Character assassinating Joffrey? Seriously, you think that's possible? They really haven't made him any worse than he was in the books, except maybe made him a little smarter at times. I know they've given some of the awful things Cersei did - like killing Robert's bastards - but I could see the Joffrey of the books doing that without hesitation if he knew them to be a threat to his rule. And the scene with the prostitutes? Again, something I could see the Joffrey of the books doing.
I happen to like Margaery, so seeing more of her is fun - whether she's truly 'developed' is u[ for debate, but I like her and I adore her actress, so it's all good in my mind. As for Robb and Talisa, while I'm not crazy about them apparently replacing Jeyne, TV is not a book. You can get away with 'off-screen' things like Robb/Jeyne when Robb is never a POV character; it's harder to pull off a move like that on TV.
They've said they're not doing a strict book-to-screen format anymore; just because they're rearranging things and adding new angles doesn't mean they're going to destroy the core of the story.
