Notes:

If you or anyone you know in fandom writes poetry, check this out. You may be being plagiarized. Note: Please do NOT hassle the publishing company itself. They've agreed to pull the book; we're waiting for it to come down from all the eBook sites. We still don't know the entire contents of the book, though - or who else has been stolen from (there is a clear fandom-author connection, however).

I certainly can understand objections that book readers may have in watching the tv series, but I think it's always important to remember they are adapting to a different medium and also...they are trying to attract people who haven't read the books. (Like me, just for full disclosure, non-book reader who loves the tv series.) They need to do that in order to sustain the sort of ratings that will allow them to continue creating the show - as such there are changes that need to be made to have certain plot points make sense to a non-book reader.

For example (and I can only speak in vague terms because I'm trying to do my best to avoid anything to spoilery): When it comes to Robb, I'm glad i'm getting some kind of interaction with his love interest. (This seems to be a general point of contention from what I gather?) I didn't have much opinion on Robb one way or the other in Season One but Richard Madden's portrayal has really helped him evolve in Season Two and I took some serious notice after the first episode this season and Robb Stark has slowly started to become one of my favorite characters. I care about him, if they suddenly popped over to him and he was married or deeply involved with someone without explanation...it would feel odd and a bit disjointed.

But also with the development of Margery - if she's important and relevant later, they need to give her some background. It's a lot harder to throw new characters into a television series or movie later in the game, with a book it's more easily accomplished and that may be one of the reasons they are spending time fleshing her out a little. (That said Natalie Dormer for the win so really, just glad to have her get more screen time.)

Also, I kind of love Jack Gleason's portrayal of Joffery simply because he is so evil and sadistic and plays it so wonderfully and by all accounts is a simply lovely person. I like watching awesome acting and this show is chocked full of it, Jack Gleason is a prime example.

I think as long as the writer of the source material has given his blessing, which clearly GRR Martin has considering his heavy involvement and the writing of one script a season, then we can rest assured that he doesn't feel like anything is a massive character assassination - that's good enough for me :)
