I know how you feel, OP. I'm on my dad's insurance and I always feel guilty about having to go to a doctor, even if it's something we only need to co-pay for. :(

Wait, you have insurance (insurance you don't pay for) and you know how the OP (who has no access to medical care) feels? Sure, it sucks that you have to feel guilty about going to the doctor but many people who pay for their own insurance also feel that way because of having to take time off from work, pay the copay and/or deductible, etc. But I don't understand how that's analogous to having no insurance and no access to healthcare. That's like somebody who lives in their parents' house and eats their parents' food saying that they understand how somebody who's starving and homeless feels, you know?

I'm not saying our situations are identical or even really similar, I just mean I know what it's like to feel guilty about being sick or hurt and not saying anything about it because of your financial situation. Even with insurance, we often end up carving significantly into our budget whenever a health problem arises (and often times insurance doesn't cover what we need), so unless something is actually stopping us from functioning and we HAVE to get a doctor to treat it, we don't talk about it and we don't go to see the doctor. We fix our problems ourselves and move on.

It's not identical to the OP's situation, but we're not exactly living in a pseudo-European system of "if you have a problem you'll get healthcare, money won't be much of an object" situation, either. Money is a massive object for us, always, even if it's not as big of a problem for us as it is for the OP.

Okay, that's just completely not what you said in your other comment; your other comment made no sense. Most of us here in the US have to deal with the fact of paying to go to the doctor even if we have insurance so your situation is basically the norm.

Maybe I worded it badly but I just meant that with or without insurance, if you are struggling financially its easy to feel guilty for being hurt or sick even when you know it's not your fault.
