Have you tried finding out how 'obsessed' this non-famous friend is? Often that kind of constant posting can seem weird, but maybe when you talk to them it'll just be this silly thing they do to pass the time. Chances are that when you gently let them know that you're friends with the famous person, they'll be embarrassed. Because they'll understand that it was awkward for you, because they don't want their fangirling to reach the celeb, etc. My guess is they'd probably tone down their squee, at least around you. They'll stay a fan, but it wouldn't be weird. If they immediately start pumping you for info or a get-together or something, that would be weird. But most fans (or friends) aren't like that, right?

You know, I often question myself whether I want a manga version of the Sailor Moon anime...

...then I remember that I dislike manga!Rei, that manga Neo Queen Serenity was a horrible mother for Chibi Usa as far as I'm concerned and that the villains majorly sucked. As in - like no serious villain ever did in any animanga.

Holy shit. Once again I feel incredibly lucky to live in a society where the system is such that if I need to see a doctor, I can go and see a doctor. Your experience is a little similar to what I'm dealing with. I can't participate in a certain band fandom anymore because of two ex-friends (who are kind of BNFs) and the paranoia was/is so much that I left that community, deleted my old LJ, and I'm close to leaving the fandom as well because now I'm having issues with yet another person.

I wish I could offer you some good advice.

Why would anyone go to hell for liking someone that awesome?

I'm not sure what to say about the puppy comment - he's definitely not one. It's a partnership on and off stage. It's just a gimmick that he remains (largely) silent while Penn talks during the show. It's sort of odd actually, if you follow him on Twitter - he's actually very talkative.
