The thing about the video game fandom, though, is that it's not dominated by women (particularly Western video games). Fandom usually is. The majority of the fandom is not involved with fanfiction or the like. The reason you're not seeing tons of femmeslash is because the fandom isn't mostly women--and, let's be honest here, most women in fandom prefer het or M/M.

Please note this isn't a derogatory statement about fandom being dominated by women. I'm more or less surprised that OP seems to think that that's the case here, though. I would be happy to see the representation of women to be larger.

In any case, I think it's a bit silly that you seem to believe that fandom begins and ends with fanfiction and shipping. A lot of the discussion for these fandoms are dominated by lore, decision-making, and talking about companions. Shipping is less of a big deal because Shepard is allowed to indiscriminately have everyone (one at a time).
