I read it and assumed "Traps" referred to a specific anime or manga series, but I gather it's a questionable character descriptor?

'Trap' is like a trope thing. The characters from the pic who I know could definitely be described as traps - okay, I can only identify two for sure - since only one of them is trans, and both of them pick up characters whose sexuality is being toyed with without declaring. That is absolutely not a slight to transpeople in any way - just something the characters happen to have in common. One intentionally seduces a straight guy before blowing his mind, though her issues are nodded to as being rather complex later in the show, which is a nice touch considering she's an exceptionally minor character. The other one is a dude who just needs to pass as female to prove a semi-retarded point, and one of his straight female students falls in very awkward love with him, resulting in many tears and much tearing of hair. Because of the intentional deception, I think calling them 'traps' is accurate in these cases. I don't view portraying your accurate body image as deceptive, I just think that these characters happen to have done so. Like the rubbish trap!Jin when he's working in a brothel in Samurai Champloo for a small part of one episode. Even if he identified as female, there would be an element of entrapment there, since he never even intended to sleep with his clients.
