You do remember how she intimidated Hammer into giving up Vanko (When Pepper might have had to back down instead of taking control in the badass way she did after Natasha left), stormed Hammer's facility and returned control of the War Machine suit to Rhodey, right?

Also, the way she infiltrated Stark Industries at the very, very top and stayed there when her meal ticket imploded (she was Stark's assistant, she became Pepper's without a single hitch) was pretty masterful. NOT useless.

All of which left zero impression on me. By the time she got to doing stuff at the end, I was already bored with her and couldn't have cared less that she beat some people up.

Now in Avengers? I finally saw someone who I truly felt belonged where she was and was utilized in a way that changed my opinion of her from her previous appearance.
