While I don't think she was the best part of the movie, I definitely get annoyed with how badly she's treated in fandom.

I also get unnecessarily irritated when I click on fanart that has Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye, and says "THE AVENGERS!", but lacks her. Hell, sometimes they even put Loki in there as a sixth even though he's kind of the bad guy.

I feel like it's a lot of slash fangirls who do it, too. I'm all for slash. I write it. I read it. I save it. But it gets on my nerves when people are that obsessed with it that they just pretend the lead female doesn't exist, or belittle her so much that she might as well not exist.

It bothers me more that so much of the official movie merch does it.

We all know that if small boys touch plastic action figure titties, instant death or gayness.

Does it? I don't follow official movie merch really beyond a figurine or two I have my eye on. That's ridiculous though.

I hope she gets her own movie, eventually, just to prove them all wrong. I'd see it in a heartbeat.

Damn. That's...really ridiculous. I don't even know how else to word it.

Part of me wants to believe that maybe they just think she's "boring" because she's not a superhuman/god/robotman/monster (even though that means she is one hell of a normal human to keep up with them, which means she's anything but boring), but I suspect it's more the "Ick! girl!" thing.
