What exactly were you expecting? Seriously. This is a kids show on Nickelodeon. A cartoon. Are you honestly expecting a deep canon exploration of non-heterosexuals here? Seriously? Seriously?

.... Seriously?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be nice?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes it would be nice in a perfect world, but to absolutely expect it is... delusional. Sorry.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-13 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably the same type who get all ragey at MLP writers for not doing the same to their characters.

ayrt

I... wow.

There's setting the bar high and then there's expecting openly GLBTA to be featured on a children's show for 4-8 year olds.

If it's a kids show and a cartoon, why is it so unreasonable to expect a lack of sexual/romantic content? I think those are excellent reasons supporting OPs point.

Eh, romance is pretty standard content in most kid-fodder. Sex not so much.

It might be worth pointing out that Korra is aimed at a slightly older audience and deals with concepts like politics and history, so...*shrug*

It would be nice. I can kind of seeing them doing something, even if it's just with a background couple. But probably not this early on.

I am totally with you here, anon. If it happens at all (and this is a BIG and almost completely unlikely if) it wouldn't be with any of the mains. It would be nice if it could be otherwise but we're not quite at that point yet.

One day, it will no longer be "delusional" to expect this in a children's cartoon and people will look back and wonder "what was the big deal anyway"?

I'm gay and eyerolled about this secret. There's so many different factors in here that I will not even bother naming them, but it's honestly laughable the presumptive of getting angry about something because it does not caters to your especially tailored wants and needs. If you want that, make your own story and find a way to make it happen.

This is just a form of self entitlement that just drives me nuts.
