Yeah, I think what actually disappoints me the most about them taking out the scene between them after the tournamet is that it meant never planting the origin of the "little bird" thing and the actual explanation of that metaphor. The only thing that gave it any kind of meaning in that episode was that later he said "Someone take her back to her cage."

I was happy that the name actually came up for once because at this point all the SanSan stuff has been so neglected that just getting that much seems like a lot, but introducing it that way gives it none of the significance it's supposed to have, especially since he first calls her that in a mocking way before it starts to seem more like a term of endearment.
