OP Here:

My sister's hobby is buying makeup and she tends to find it at higher-end places like Sephora and MAC. A $25 lipstick is completely normal there, and I'm with you on it being ridiculous. I cringe when I buy like, one lipstick a year at the drugstore for $7.

Ever heard of Chanel, Shiseido, Bobbi Brown...? These are all high-end cosmetics brands and will cost you that much for one lipstick.

High-end makeup. And then there's the luxury segment on top of the high-end. ;p Never look up chantecaille, cle de peau, la prairie, laduree, le metier de beaute, by terry, etc.
