I love looking at big manga collections, but mine will probably never be great. Manga loses when weighed against other things for me, because it's a luxury and it's so expensive — at least the titles I want to own. Like, some volumes of Monster are out of print in English and cost around $30-$60 second-hand... Same with Kaoru Mori's Emma. I really hope that Yen Press picks that last one up eventually, because I could maybe save up for it if it was $10-$15 per volume, but as it is, it's out of the question.

Yikes. And I thought my manga was expensive. Most of my favorite manga is either in print in English or was in print within the last 6-7 years, but I have a bad habit of liking series that span 20+ volumes, which means I have to complete the series gradually.

I have the exact same problem. I have 11 volumes of Monster. And I just finished reading volumes 3-9 online.

Also, I grabbed two volumes of Emma when my local Borders was closing down as a complete blind buy. They had no other manga I liked, and I'd heard good things about Emma, so why not? And now I've watched the anime and fallen in love with the story and the characters... Any volume past volume 2 is either unavailable on Amazon, Abe Books, Book Depository, Alibris, or even WorldCat. Argh.
