I do this too, sometimes, albeit not with manga and makeup.

One of my big motivations to make my own lunches to bring from home is thinking about how many books and DVDs I could buy instead of getting sandwiches from Subway.

I do something similar. For me, I compare food I can get at favourite food places to art books/supplies + the fare it takes to get them... which is probably why I can never seem to justify buying anything from Starbucks. (I can see a Tim Horton's by standing on my front yard! Or better yet, I can brew my own coffee and scoop vanilla ice cream into it. >.>)

Yeah, I have hard time justifying Starbucks, too, especially since it can cost the me same as a whole take-out meal. To be honest, I'm not a huge Starbucks fan, but there's one on campus that I can't avoid, and it can be tempting to get a snack, especially after being in class all day.

But I'd so rather save that money for my hobbies. Or even for getting tea at the locally-owned coffee place that I like better.
