I consider myself a regular fan, and I have people in my fandom who worry about me when I have bad days?

Of course, I could say that they're my friends, as, while they found me through our mutual fandom, they stuck around for me (at least I hope that's why).

I think people "matter" because they are a human being, not just because a lot of people are paying attention to them. The tragedy becomes when those MANY people watch some one going through something and ignore it or dance around it. It can highlight how vapid those online "friendships" are when the rubber hits the road.

Well, I know I still wonder and worry about Pie (jjdg). The last thing I heard from her was that she was going to the doctor to check on vomiting blood. A few weeks later her account was deleted. I wasn't even on her f-list. I read a few of her fics (and enjoyed them) but I can't claim any friendship.

Still the way she disappeared makes me wonder and worry about her. It kind of eats at me. I find it very, very sad that there's nothing left of her except a few posts she did anon. It's like she's not just gone, she's been erased as though she'd never been. But she was here. I remember her.

I had a friend on Livejournal who died, and for a while their account was marked as a memorial account, but then it came up as deleted? It makes me sad going through old posts and seeing missing comments with only their strikethrough'd username. I still remember those conversations...

A friend of mine died a little over a year ago, and her journal was deleted at the request of her family; perhaps that's what happened here. I'm sorry for your loss.
