Um...have you read the comics that you keep referring to? Because Black Widow has been an extremely important and relevant main character, both in her own comics, in Bucky and Cap's comics, and in the various Avengers groups comics for like 10 years. She's also been Nick Fury's personal secret agent for some years, too.

...so I am honest to god confused as to why people are confused by her being included in the film...
