I really like your final line, that it's not about the men but about not being a dick. Really, that's all there is to a lot of fandom fights I've been in, and it just gets to a point where you're like, "...Come on, guys. Is it really so hard to not be an asshole about liking/disliking something?" OK, sometimes it's fun to be a troll, but most of the time I'd rather leave the drama in the real world.
