Anyone who says that is truly a moron. Apart from uber-purism, It's not like comics canon is even an absolute thing -- it changes all the time and can be wildly different from writer to writer. The timeline is constantly shifting because the characters don't age, and things get quietly dropped or retconned left and right when crappy writers mess up or something becomes out of date. And there are several alternate universes too, like the Ultimate universe, and all the ones in the What If's that occasionally interact with 616. So yeah, that's a really dumb argument. Also, the movies are way better than the comics have been for the past decade or so.

On the other hand, the movies have a whole extra layer of enjoyability if you've read some of the comics. The little references and easter eggs and stuff... :)
