Gah. I've been a fan for two decades and have a sizeable collection of the comics and I still haven't come close to reading ALL of them. (How would you even acquire all of them? Is there a digital library somewhere?) Good grief! I didn't realize there was an official level to reach where you can finally call yourself a fan.

I think some fans just don't feel special anymore when new fans start pouring in, and they have to find a way to feel superior.

Agreed with the last part. I'm a little ashamed to say that I often get that feeling when it comes to adaptations (*cough*SherlockHolmes*cough*). I try to quash it, but sometimes it's just ... there. I have to condemn those who act on those feelings though.
