I was a huge comics fan growing up (and still would be, except that they just cost too damn much), and I freaking *hated* the Avengers. They reared their stupid heads in my beloved X-books periodically, but I always viewed that as a pack of deceitful lies designed to make me like stupid things. It never worked.

That said, I despise the X-Men movie franchise, almost universally, but I can't get enough of the Avengers movies. I'd like to think I have a greater appreciation for the movies because I hate the comics so much. I think I'm able to enjoy them better because I don't worry about all the continuity nonsense that ruined the X-Films for me.

All of that is to say, we like what we like. People who judge you for it are petty. Or 12. Or both.
