I get it if it's not your thing, but the application isn't really that much effort? And like, we're not doing it as some sort of initiation or hazing. But it's there because a) we LIKE sorting and you can't sort people unless you know some things about them and b) part of sorting is figuring out which house the applicant would be happiest in and it's hard to do that if we know nothing about you.

IDK, I am an H_E member, and I LOVE filling out applications, and I think it does take a lot of effort. It took me like two weeks to get my application right. It's really hard and takes a lot of thought if you want to write an honest app with enough detail to not get squibbed. I still really enjoyed it, but I don't think it's fair to claim it's not that much effort. It is a lot of effort. But it's effort that's worth it if H_E is the kind of community a person would enjoy.

Well yeah, it's not something you can throw together in 10 minutes, but lol. I just really like talking about myself so to me it didn't seem like a lot of effort.

I just wasn't a fan of the impression that the application is like some sort of intentionally difficult thing that we make people do just because we're more special than everyone else or something. It's not like that. It's just that we want to sort people into the house they'd fit in best and a decent length application is kind of necessary to that.
