Re: cosplay, you can still take off your glasses for pictures! At least they won't ruin the more permanent image of your costume :) Contacts work for me, luckily, but I use glasses in my daily life so I have to buy them especially for cosplay and I don't really feel that they're worth the expense for the more rushed costumes - or for private photoshoots! So I do the glasses-off-glasses-on thing *shrug*
