Same. I think a lot of the new technology is really jarring, especially after only 70 years between the old and new series, but the characters are so good that I'm mostly just accepting a lot of it.

*shrugs* We went from the Wright Brothers inventing/flying the first airplane to going to the moon within 70 years, and we saw fire nation zeppelins/tanks back in A:TLA season 3. The evolution seems fast, but it's totally doable.

We went from the horse and buggy in the 1850's to cars being mass produced in 1914, (IIRC) it's not that implausible.

I don't really mind because hey, this IS a fantasy world with magic kung-fu. I think the technology jump was absolutely necessary for the show's premise, though - without tech, non-benders have no real way of standing up to benders and we couldn't have this conflict.

its part of the way of the world. tho there were no trains (appart from eath bending ones) steam ships existed, providing coal burning high pressure boilers. thats the root of the industrial revoultion. whilst the earth kingdom was kinda backward, the fire nation was the peek of 1850 tech.

and this show is set, with its tech, in the 1920s. its exactly the kind of change that happend in 70 years.

i agree, it can seem kind of jarring, but that just sort of reinforced a history point (for me) that it must have been remarkble for people born 1850, given the enormity of the changes they faced. imagine living from 1850 to 1950. the end of the dominces of steam, cars, planes, the telephone, radio, elctrsity commenplace...just off the top of my head

Eeee, just coming from watching a series the ending of which had characters reflecting on how dramatically the worlds was changing, also taking place in the 1920's, I have to agree! Daunting, but also incredible; like a world of endless possibilities opening up!
