(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 02:02 am (UTC)(link)I personally have this slightly unholy love for the REALLY early stuff (Tales of Suspense era Cap and Iron Man. the melodramatic ANGST.) But I'd also recommend Iron Age (Tony and time travel fun, really pretty artwork), Captain America: Man Out Of Time (good retelling of his origin), Avengers v3 if you want to know more about the team and are willing to go back a bit, New Avengers v1 if not. I'd actually also recommend that recent run of the Adjectiveless Avengers by Bendis. The art swings between shit and halfway decent, but I thought the stories themselves were fun if you aren't familiar with Bendis' work. The current Thor run is pretty good, and has kid!Loki if that's to your fancy.
Since Bruce/Tony has taken off, I would actually HESITANTLY recommend Ultimate Human. That one would have come with all sorts of blanket warnings and mild explanations given the...grittier nature of the Ultimate universe. It's essentially about Tony attempting to cure the Hulk (a storyline that has actually popped up in the old Iron Man comics, funny enough.)
That's...kinda a general list. Again, I guess it depends on what you're interested in.
