It was a mistake as a story arc, because of how beloved Data was, which is a shame, because I thought it was brilliant in execution. She's a great character - and she actually grows and changes over the course of the series, which no one else does. I love her asking Data to play against that arrogant guy - using his androidness as a positive factor and yet appealing to him as a human. That should have been the final episode of the series, because it really worked with the themes of the series. (It's also not an isolated incident of Puksaki liking and respecting Data in the latter half of the series).
She didnt bring as many issues/potential emotional plotlines with her as Beverley, which is a bit of a shame (although they weren't used to the full extent), but I found her (eventually - after my initial hate) to be a very interesting, compelling and amusing character
BUT,having said all that, I watched it all on DVD, so I didn't have nearly as much time to go 'why is this woman so awful? Why does she hate Data so much ARGH???' as people watching one-a-week.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 11:37 am (UTC)(link)So she came on and stoked up a lot of bad will in the process, and in those days of one-a-week (as you pointed out) it was a very different ball game. There were a lot less leaks and ancillary fandom stuff to ease an entrance on an awkward episode too. You made your judgement on the episode, and then had nothing to change your mind for a week at least.
