I was under the impression that the comics were just a clusterfuck of alternate universe fanfictions of one another anyway, so the movie was just doing exactly what comics had been doing on paper for decades.

For realz, man.

Although movie!Loki totally was a gateway drug into comics!Loki for me. I regret absolutely nothing.
