House flies
I guess I will have to just break down and get the fly paper... it just looks so tacky hanging up in the kitchen IDK

You can get some quite attractive glass fly/wasp traps. They're sort of pear-shaped, with a hole in the bottom and a cork in the top. They've got little legs and the hole is raised up a bit from the bottom.

You pour a little sweet liquid in as bait (tip it to the side as you pour so it doesn't go out the hole) and then cork it. The flies find their way in easily enough, but can't get out, and eventually drown. When it gets gross you just dump it down the toilet, rinse, and repeat.

If you use something like coke then you can't even really see them floating in there. Beer works well too.

This is a fancy version but there are plain ones out there too. Check your local garden centre.

Some you can hang as well as having them on your counter, so that gets them out of the way nicely.

Fly paper IS gross, but it IS super-effective. Don't hang it over your food preparation area, though. Just in case. ;-)
