There are probably some very backwards people in your own country, right? Maybe they're not the majority (or maybe they are) but you probably know of at least one vocal movement that you hate. And those people don't define your beliefs. How would you feel if somebody automatically associated you with whatever your country's embarrassing conservative movement is, just because of where you're from?
In fact, when you're meeting someone from a different country and you're tempted to judge them, think of the worst politicians/parties in your country. Think of how even if they were suddenly the ones in power in your country, you would still believe differently. Then remind yourself that the person you're talking to could easily be in the same boat, and let their behavior be what decides what kind of a person they are.
