You wanna know what takes real bravery? A person from a country or area where they say, kill LGBT or outspoken human rights activists, who stands up for what s/he/they believe in.

So next time you feel so judgmental and self-righteous--oooh, you're from THAT country, remind yourself that person could be 100% braver than you'll ever have the chance to be, because you were born in an accepting / open country.

I work at a university, and some of our students are from a country where we can't even post their pictures online because that would be essentially drawing a target on them (when they return home), just because they've studied at an American university. They knew the risks, but they chose to come abroad because they're damn brave, and they WANT to learn and be open-minded.

This is a good comment and you should feel good. And damn, it didn't even occur to me that folks could get in trouble for studying abroad.
