I read part of the original books but beside the Robert Dowey Jr. Sherlock movie and BBC Sherlock I'm not familiar with the adaptions. I'm aware that there are a lot of movies/TV shows about Sherlock Holmes/that are based on Holmes (ie.: House).

It's probably just a personal quirk of mine that I end up being biased when something suddenly gets all hyped up. It can be a book series/move/TV Show but also simply a concept, in that case Sherlock Holmes. I can't really explain it and it gets on my nerves but that's often the main reason why I'm really not excited about stuff until I forced myself to watch/read it. This is why so many new Sherlock adaptions in a relatively short time frame make me unexcited about it.
