But what if you ship a non-canon pairing that later becomes canon? Tell me, OP, how do you judge me for that?

(Also, little bit worried for you if you truly believe, as you imply, that all canon relationships are perfectly balanced and healthy...)

What about a ship that was canon, but broke up and the characters ending with with other people? Am I doing it wrong if I'd rather ship Buffy/Angel than Buffy/Spike and Angel/Cordelia? Or Troi/Worf instead of Troi/Riker and Worf/Dax? Even canon couples aren't always set in stone.

Agreed on your parenthetical comment.

Also, re-reading the secret, I just gotta say: The "zero-evidence 'fan preferred' couple" comment is annoying. Do some people pair couples with no evidence the characters would actually want to be a couple? Sure. Hell, as someone above said, they pair across fandoms; obviously there's no "evidence" of two characters in different canons wanting to be a couple. But there are a lot of fanon couples that have at least some evidence, and plenty that have quite a bit. Hell, in some cases, the creators put in stuff on purpose to "ship-tease".

When Eliza kissed Goliath, and when Jack and Samantha kissed, my husband was completely surprised by it both times. XD He thought it was completely out of left field and was left going "Where the hell did THAT come from?!" both times. For me, it had been building up to it for seasons, and I was left going, "How the hell could you not see that coming? Seriously?"

"Evidence" and the lack thereof? Meh. Seems to be based on individual perception and perspective.

Also, this secret is kind of boring, IMO, especially if it's a troll. Sheesh.
