I don't know, while I feel like the first book had problems (lack of subtlety being the major one) and that the second and third didn't really improve on them, I liked Catching Fire and Mockingjay way more; we got so much more of the world they were operating in, and a whole bunch of extra characters to be interested when Katniss was at her most frustrating, and while I wasn't a fan of the love triangle, I don't feel like it overpowered everything. Maybe it was just that given how much negativity I'd heard about books 2 and 3, my expectations were low, but...yeah. As someone above said, different strokes.

I don't really care about the love triangle, and I loved that the Tributes/Victors in the Quarter Quell actually got names and at least a minute level of character development, because Collins wasted such a good opportunity in the first book.

Yeah, we got Finnick and Johanna out of Catching Fire, which was definitely a plus. And Boggs in Mockingjay and he is MY FAVORITE and played by Clark Gregg in my head. I know it makes little sense. But I still want it.

I wish I liked Finnick and Johanna. I love what the fandom does with them, but in themselves I find them really dull.

Finnick ended up being my favourite character so I have to love Catching Fire for that. Even if it is so the middle book in a series and thus is all wrap-up from the first book and set-up for the third.

That bugged me, too. I really would've liked to know Foxface's name, for instance, and at least a little bit of what her deal was.

I'm sorely tempted to write fanfiction about her.

Do it. I would read it.
