There's more than one kind of taco? Because when the ingredients start to very, then they become Things Other Than Tacos.

Depends on where you go. Here, a taco is pretty much anything served in a tortilla that is not a burrito, enchilada, or tostada.

Weird. Because I always considered tacos beef, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, sour cream in a tortilla, and anything else is Something Else.

I am picky and only like meat and cheese, sometimes rice.

Chicken, beef, vegetarian, what exact spices are used with the meat ect.

I have honestly never thought of chicken or vegetarian tacos before...

I don't actually know what the exact criteria for what is and isn't a taco. I just know what things I've been served which were called tacos by the person serving them.

That said, I was once offered a shrimp taco. (I declined.)

saw a commercial for an ice cream Klondike taco. :)

Chocotacos!!!!

God I love those things. Used to get them from the ice cream truck for years.

I grew up on vegetarian tacos, the filling was either nutmeat (canned nut-based meat substitute) with taco seasoning, red kidney beans with taco seasoning, or a mix of both.

Yeah, there are several types of tacos, but to me, as long as it has an ingredient wrapped in a tortilla, it's a taco. (Even a burrito is considered here some kind of taco, but slightly different, because you use a wheat tortilla instead of a corn tortilla) Funnily enough, I would find odd to see a taco with grated cheese AND sour cream, to me that would be closer to a enchilada than a taco.

(I'm Mexican, by the way)
