Engaging and countering his arguments isn't quite the same thing as calling him out. MG guy at first was fielded by several fans to try to lessen his bizarre ideas before tech came out and mocked him for it.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if it happened in a number of other fandoms, including KH. The way the secret was described pinged MG for me is all.
