I get that she didn't realize the expanding impact of her actions but it's something she should have exprected after the first mishap in Rue's district. And they made her seem nearly helpless the second time she was in the games. It was all just this elaborate stretch of alliances to keep her alive that she wasn't aware of. The Katniss of the first book would have been just as involved, trying to keep them all alive.
My biggest peeve is with the last book, and how much she just doesn't seem to care about anything outside her person and her family. With the subversive thoughts they mentioned her having as a child, I just wanted her to be driven to fight for the people, but she doesn't even agree to do that until they make a bunch of exceptions. I get the need to keep certain people alive, and not punish them, but I was just so frustrated with where the story went and how her reaction to the changing reality didn't live up to book one Katniss.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-26 02:37 am (UTC)(link)THIIIS. For someone who was once so outraged over everything happening, I expected her to WANT to be a hero and to fight for the freedom of the districts. But no, yet again we get another reluctant hero.
