Some people have an interpretation that Peeta is a manipulative jerk.. Of course, I don't see him this way at all.
And yeah Katniss wouldn't care about the cause. I understand people being frustrated at her about that, but she really cares about the people she loves and that's it.

See, I feel Peeta is good at understanding how people see things and manipulating them (all of his interviews before the games). But he's never manipulated Katniss at the expense of her fears. I think people see his devotion as a kind of Nice Guy attribute, but he leaves her alone when she wants to be alone. He doesn't always do what she wants. I think their relationship is far more balanced than people are getting, but they're letting their assumptions about YA romance get in the way tbh. I liked them through all 3 books (and Gale! I liked the way his character developed, even though I didn't like Katniss and him together), so I'm probably extremely biased.

I love Peeta,too. I didn't feel like he was pushy, some people do and I think it's projecting a little onto the character. I didn't like Gale, I felt like he did push Katniss a little and didnt leave her alone when she needed to be.

I didn't think Gale pushed Katniss, so much as interpreted every choice she made as being about romance. At a certain point it was like, no Gale, she's got other concerns than you and Peeta okay, chill out.

Gale and Peeta's conversation in the third book, and Katniss' "fuck both of you" reaction, will never not be funny to me.
