18. WORD. :ob

21. At least you're accepting he's "Light" and not calling him "Raito" lolz.

MERRO YERRO! :o

1. I love both my offline and online friends, but being from as small a town as I am, it's hard to find others with the things I enjoy, in common. I find more people online that have the same morals and interests as I do - so I can understand feeling closer to online friends.

2. Aww, that's no reason not to enjoy a convention or other event - you don't need to cosplay, to have fun... And it's not a crime to cosplay, if you're overweight. A lot of people cosplay characters they don't realistically look like.

3. Okay, first.... That picture is disturbingly cute.
Secondly- yeah, not that exactly, but I've certainly learned some interesting things I didn't know the mechanics of, before fandom.
Fandom teaches things.

7. Okay, up until the 'I think I like the pretty profiles' better, I was really thinking "So what? Make the RP anyway." At worst only a couple of people will be interested in it... Smaller RPs are easier to organize and manage as a mod, anyway.
And I feel you on the hating to advertise front. You could ask someone else to do it, or what I tend to do is advertise in like three comms a night (and I don't advertise every day.) so it's not spamming everyone with the same ad over and over.

Ummm... I'm just trying to be helpful. If you don't really want to start an RP, 'cause you think you'd lose interest- ignore me.
and people do see things on GJ. It is a legit site... That's where I participated in and made all of my first RPs.

11. Err.... I'm not looking for a fight, but seriously, the only thing I liked about that show was Daria.

12. I do this too, whether with friends or relationships. Just seeing myself and someone I know in a certain dynamic between two characters - and loving to see the two characters together and interacting, because of it.
I also don't tell the person...

16. That pains me in more ways than I can explain. Although, in their defense- it might have more to do with how few scenes the characters were in, than the fact that they're not pretty little boys?
I don't know the person, so I could be completely nuts. Obviously, his sons weren't in many episodes, themselves. I just think it's easier to ignore those small scenes than... Well, Russell's loud.

That's an awesome ship... Someone should write something for [livejournal.com profile] fma_rare for it.

18. A lot of anime sucks, a lot of American cartoons suck. It's all about finding the ones that work for you and just enjoying them. Yes, hearing it all the time gets damn annoying - but so do comments like these, where you seem to think you or your preference is BETTER.
It's not better, just because you like it more.

But Foster's, and Mulan, and Kim Possible... All good choices.
KP was so my Harry Potter

19. Hahaha... You are not alone. A lot of girls just assume boys are girls without asking. And it is easier to pass for whatever you want, through a computer screen.

21. I wish I could get past the fact that his name is Light. All these fandom!secrets about it drive me crazy... I'm not even into that series.

22. ..... Maybe I'm missing something plainly obvious here. From what I've noticed fandomsecrets averages 4 pages of comments a secret post, and ljsecret averages 7-11. Though I do have to say I enjoy it much better here, and don't even submit secrets to lj, usually.

not!fandom [2] - IAWTS.
Completely. I'm so sick of people making secrets for the amusement or wank, or angst, drama, to see how gullible we are... Whatever.
Some people relate to secrets, and it's harder to agree with the more obscure ones if for all you know, it's only there to cause trouble.

14. AGREED. THANK YOU. <3

17. I wasn't crushed either.. i liked them, but i honestly didn't give a Nirvash fart that they died--i figured they were going to die anyways and made my peace earlier on.

1. I love all my friends. Just some I feel more comfortable talking to than others, sometimes I make plans to be around for something online and vice versa. Now, I do have a lot more inside jokes with my online friends, but I'm more than happy to go through the incredibly long explaination of the jokes to my real life friends. :c I try my best to balance them out.

14. LAWL sorry, I didn't make some of the awesomest online friends ever through blogcrews. It was just my imagination

16. ...People talk about Russel and Fletcher...but didn't watch the canon? o_o I'M CONFUSED. And, for the record, I could totally see that ship. ♥

17.
THANKS A LOT, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT.

18. I like them both. Sue me. Generalizations about the noses being the same are so 90s. Honestly, though. Cartoons are storytelling, no matter what country they're from or style they're done in. Sometimes the stories are deep, sometimes they're just fun. It doesn't really do any good bashing one style of storytelling because it's not American unless you're going to bash everyone else's. What about the Canadian cartoons, man? D: I LIKE CANADIAN CARTOONS TOO. And Chinese cartoons when I can find them these days. I like all forms of storytelling

srsly, Light is lame but Mello and Near!? And I haven't read all the books yet but I'm sure L was short for something retarded. Even if his name was just L, that's still gay.
i'll just go back to ogling the death gods now 8|

It's Seto no Hanayome. Pure, undiluted CRACK. As an example, the loli in the secret is a junior high student / wannabe police superintendant, while the guy is a shark (not metaphorically: he's a shark. And no, I am not making this up).

Re: #1

[identity profile] author-by-night.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I know, I'm just stating the other side. Yes, ditching good friends isn't right. But not all of those secrets specifically said "they are the best friends I've ever had but I ditch them for fandom." So I agree with your point, but I just think you have to keep in mind that for some people, fandom friends are the only true friends they've got. (However, yes, it is sad when people ditch the real world in general.)

Re: #1

[identity profile] author-by-night.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I do have to admit it's a bit of a personal topic for me, because I was once one of those teens who felt like the online world was more willing to lend a hand. However, now I know both types of friends can be equally loyal and equally fickle - it's not where you go, it's who you mingle with.

[identity profile] rmarques.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
18. mmm... Should I say it? heh, I will. OY! Secret poster! Wanna know a secret? By saying that all anime sucks... You're just as bad as the people that say that all american made animation sucks! LOL HIPOCRISY! =DDD

Not!Secret 1. Or whatever the "Kingdom Hearts 2 is over rated" is banner. Roxas a Gary-Stu, and Kairi a Mary-Sue? Care to list your reasons for saying so? <3 Oh and by the way, Disney only gave them the VA's and the Disney characters. Everything else was made by Square-Enix.

14-Agreed.

17-Which fandom is this?

19-...FTM?

RE: 19

[identity profile] rmarques.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
19. Female to Male. It's an abreviation used to describe female transexuals that are either transitioning, or have already transtioned to male.

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
LMAO!, a trol is a person who says things they don't even mean just to see people blowing up. I'm saying this because it's what I truly think and because I know people are busier with juicier things so they won't be paying attention to anything anyone says and hence there will not be wank.

Thanks!

14. I've never understood blog crews, it's always sort of bothered me because I, admittedly, thought it was some sort of roleplay thing.

17. I really wasn't impacted by their deaths either though it's been a while since I saw what happened.

18. I totally agree. I know a few people who cannot stand American animation but I'm a total nut for it.

19. I didn't realise there were so many transgendered people in fandom. I harldy knew and only discovered people this last year once I was diagnosed.

22. I totally agree. Completely and utterly. I think it rules too.

Fullmetal Alchemist - the emoguy on the left is Nash Tringham, and the guy on the right is Vercio/Belsio/however you feel like spelling it. They are old and only appeared in two episodes each (and Nash was only in flashbacks because he's dead), but they're so gay for each other.

Even if Nash has kids. Yeah.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-17 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
16. ...People talk about Russel and Fletcher...but didn't watch the canon? o_o I'M CONFUSED. And, for the record, I could totally see that ship. ♥

Apparently, given how many times I've had this conversation:

"Russel and Fletcher are awesome!"

"I know! :D Hey, did you notice how gay for each other Nash and Vercio were?"

"Who are they? lololol"

[identity profile] chelonianmobile.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
#2 - The baby in that pic is adorable!

#22 - I feel bad for agreeing with you. I mean, theoretically RL secrets are more important, but ninety percent of them are identical oh-I-am-so-miserable-and-weird look-at-meeee pleas. I just want to reach through my computer screen, grab a random person who posted one of the RL secrets, drag them through, and scream in their face "Your therapist cares! I DON'T!"

And I feel bad for thinking that. Especially since I've experienced depression myself and know that sometimes when you're going through something that rough you've gotta get it out any way you can, and besides they're not exactly MAKING me look at the things. But I still do think it. Am I a horrible person for that?

[identity profile] pariah164.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The person who posted 18 made an annoying generalization, but you're even worse. I watch, and enjoy, both anime and US cartoons. You're making decent anime fans look bad. =__=+

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you're gonna make me cry, *sad face* LMAO.

[identity profile] pariah164.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
... Did I ever say that was my intention? You're acting like an immature troll, which you probably are. Either think up a decent argument for your statements, or shut up and stop acting like a moron.

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
A decent argument, uhmmm ookay, American television in general is a load os shite, predictable, repetitive, lousy acting. Even the so called cult t.v shows [think Buffy, Farscape, Firefly] are nothing more than ridiculous glorified artsy soap operas with mediocre argument played out by what some people consider hot people.

And animated t.v doesn't fare better, the mythology [if there is on - or mening, if someone bothered to copy the japanese and actually tried to do something interesting, for once] is nothing but a bad copy of foreign ideas, Chinese, Korean, Japanese.

And I wish I could continue discussing this with you, but I'm busy reading DH spoilers, so bye.
