More succinct and effective than the previous comment, I think.

Should I articulate how poorly she acted every scene she was a part of? How impossible she made any romance seem between her character and Thor? How idiotic and irritating she made herself seem, when her character is supposed to be intelligent? Or does that deserve a "fuck you" too? I could think of at least a handful of ladies that could have pulled off that role with the right kind of attitude and charm.

Oh yes lets bash the smart awesome woman that pretty much made the movie. I'm sure she got in the way of your slash feels.

Also the woman playing Jane has a fucking academy award. So shit down and shut up you pathetic little vagina hating troll.

Not sure if srs or if trolling when you say Jane made the movie. lolwat. Thor and everyone in Asgard made the movie. Subtract Jane from the movie and it's still an epic movie. Subtract Thor and who would give a fuck about plain-Jane nerd conquests.

I agree the first anon that Natalie as Jane was the worst thing about Thor. I'm a Natalie Portman fan and I think she's a great actress who was overqualified for someone like Jane... whose character is so plain that Natalie just read the lines and no acting was required. If you think any talent was required to play Jane then your standards must be absurdly low.

The role of Jane is something you'd expect new/unknown actress to play whose just taking whatever opportunity she gets, not a fucking award winning actress.

Or maybe it was the writing. I hate how so many movies feel the need to shoehorn in a love interest despite the blatant lack of chemistry or build-up, just for the sake of having a love interest.

Not to mention Jane as a character is very forgettable. Compared to the other Avenger love interest like Pepper Pots who had built-up as Tony's support-system or Peggy who was pretty badass and had a beautiful accent.

A better love interest for Thor would have been Sif (IIRC she and Thor were lovers at some point in the original comic not to mention they are both immortal) rather than a plain-Jane human who is going to live a very short life compared to his.

I could list more reasons people do not like Jane in Thor, but something tells me your just going to continue to hide behind the 'because you ship slash' excuse. FYI I don't ship Thor with anyone and I like Natalie as an actress, and I still hated Jane in the movie.

This. Only thing I hated about the movie.

I don't know what people are on, I found Darcy way more annoying than Jane and everybody fuckin loves Darcy.

I love Darcy (if only because chicks SO RARELY get to be goofy). I wasn't annoyed by Jane though - I liked them a lot as a mismatched little team tbh

I just found her a bit overdone. Obviously she doesn't ruin the whole movie for me or anything. And I kind of want her and Sif to meet for some reason.

You wouldn't know that by the way some state their opinions like they are fact. I know we're supposed to assume a poster only speaks for themselves but the condescending tone makes that difficult when it differs from your own.

Well, I'm honestly sorry if I sounded condescending, I was just really set off by the equally opinionated "everybody hates Jane" bullshit of the above comment.

You didn't and IA with you. I was referring to the people bitching about all aspects of Jane like it is gospel. Plenty of people disagree with that they just don't tend to be as pushy, loud or obnoxious about it.

I think most (not all) of it stems from Portman hate combined with the butthurt that Thor will never make out with Loki on screen and somehow that is her fault. Couldn't possibly be that Movie!Thor doesn't like him like that and regardless of blood still only sees Loki as his brother.

ugh, yes, she irritates me to no end. Especially in Thor, and it's partly her fault for being as expressive as a plank of wood, and partly the writers' fault for writing an "epic romance" that spans a couple days.

She and her friend were the only things about the movie I found remotely interesting. Certainly more interesting than Thor or Loki.
