I think the fact that he was lied to all his life about being adopted and actually a member of a race he and the Asgardians had always considered evil was kind of a big deal -- a lot of fangirls went "oh, well, he's just sooooo confused, dontcha see? He doesn't know who he is and thinks he's wrong and bad, so he's just lost and afraid and lashing out and crying for something to belong to!" Which is a good argument...for a character who's, like, 11 years old. That's why I always considered Loki's rabid fangirls' excuses to be a case of poor application of reasoning rather than completely nonsensical excuses for sympathizing with his sadface.

Oh, I don't know. There's no real age limit on having an identity crisis, I don't think. The woobification obviously takes it too far, but I think it's at least fair that he's confused/bothered by having just found out that he's actually part of a race of people he's spent his entire life thinking of as "the enemy." And he clearly rejects that part of himself, if the fact that he tricks and then kills his biological father without hesitation is any indication. And then he takes it way too far with the whole attempted-genocide thing.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Flipping out and wanting to kill everyone over an identity crisis might still be woobifiable if you were a kid and have no perspective on what's right and wrong, but if you try that shit when you're an adult all sympathy goes out the window. If you have an identity crisis, just lock yourself up to panic and cry or agonize about it to your family and friends for a while, like the rest of us. Don't pull that special snowflake genocide shit.
