I really... can not fathom how people can't tell them apart.

Even if you think their faces look similar -- and I really don't think they are, personally -- the environments their scenes take place could not be more different. They also act completely different, and are surrounded by entirely different characters. Context clues, folks.

Yes this. Even if they were twins I'd think it'd be insanely easy to tell them apart. :s

I had a hard time at first because I had a hard time keeping up with the 900 characters who are introduced all at once.

Personally? Because their faces really *do* look a lot alike to me, and that + gazillion characters being introduced at the same time? Means that I'm paying less attention to any given characters while I'm trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Add in the fact that I tell people apart [usually] by their voices? It's even more of a problem since what I did see [I only watched the first...5-6 episodes] only one of them really talked much, so there just wasn't enough to say for certain that *yes* I know for sure which is which now.

What about the environments, though? That's the one that gets me the most, I think. After the first two episodes or so, one of them is surrounded by snow -- coincidentally, the one with Snow in his name. The other isn't. Like even if you can't tell the characters apart by their appearance or voices or by the characters around them, surely the snow vs no snow would be a dead give-away. Idk.

I guess I can't say much, since I have the opposite problems -- I can't remember names for shit, and when I was reading the book, there were no visual clues like faces, so I could never tell which character they were talking about. Made worse when there are several 'Jon's, etc. So I suppose you just have the face version of that confusion.
