Fandom taught me that I was bisexual, but I would put my sexuality as 95% in favour of men (I'm female). However, I'm in a long term relationship with a woman whom I love. I wouldn't judge you and I know a lot of people in fandom wouldn't either - this idea that bisexuality is a ~fad~ is a really immature and useless proposition (and even if it was 'just a fad' who the hell cares? Who does it hurt?)

Take your bisexuality with pride, anon! *Puts you on the back of a big, shiny unicorn*

By that logic, a significant number of trans people are also just following a fad. But if you were to say that you'd have a pile of people up your ass.

I know a few transgendered people and, fuck me, if they're doing it for a fad they must be really, really dedicated - the amount of shit they have to go through is ridiculous.

And rightfully so.

Gah, this. I'm gay, but I went through a bisexual 'phase' while I was figuring stuff out, and I don't regard my identity or the attraction I experienced during that time as in any way invalid because I moved further down the scale later on. Even if someone does 'grow out of' bisexuality that doesn't mean what they experienced wasn't real, nor does it mean that everyone will grow out of it.

(Though sometimes I feel bad for conforming to a bisexuality stereotype. >_>)

I think maybe it depends on the fandom? All I know is there are a hella lot of people who get super defensive about other people's sexuality (or lack of).

I think we are made to think bis are 50/50. Thats why I had trouble accepting it. I prefer men, too, but I know I could fall in love with a woman as well.
