Complete Digression:

I read this book when I was too young (nine, I believe) and it traumatized me so much that could never pick it up again. Which is kinda sad because I bet it's AMAZING from an adult's perspective.

You know, I read it first when I was twelve and LOVED it and then read it again just a year or so ago. It was... okay.
It just felt like it was only scratching the surface of the themes it was talking about. Not that I'm complaining. That's perfect for kids. But as an adult it wasn't enough for me anymore.

Same thing here. Read it in middle school and was blown away. Picked it up a couple years ago and meh. Still a good book, but I just don't think it works quite as well for adult audiences.

I read it for the first time as an adult and I really loved it. That was years ago though so maybe I'd still pick it up now and be less enthusiastic.

I first read it when I was ten and thought it was okay. I reread it in high school and liked it much more.

:((. It IS and if it doesn't squick you too much, you should definitely try to pick it up again. Or maybe try "Gathering Blue," which is by the same author and is also awesome.

I read it at 8 or 9 and totally loved it though, so, clearly, ymmv.
