"He didn't threaten and nearly rape her at knifepoint! It's just not as romantic!"

Hello, strawman.

Note: I don't ship these two. BUT. I too was disappointed that this scene wasn't what it was in the books, not because I get kicks out of seeing a girl get threatened with sexualized violence, but simply because it was a pretty interesting scene! Drunken psycho killer gets sung to and cries -- I dunno, that's kind of a cool place to take that character. It gives the guy depth.

I think the Hound is an interesting character and it kind of bums me out that strictly-TV-series people don't get to know him very well (yet anyway, I hope).

But you don't ship them. Book!Sandor is an interesting character, no mistake, but the easiest way to identify the crazier SanSans that the OP is talking about is to just make note of the ones that both ship it and are disappointed at the changes to his character. Not that it always works, but it's a pretty accurate and easily-identified factor.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
So you think Sansan shippers who are disappointed with the show's changes are crazy people now?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Not just that. She's also said Sansan fans are apologists for pedophilia. :/

Only the ones that try and justify a grown man having a romantic interest in an 11-12 year-old.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
So yes, you think Sansan fans are apologists for pedophilia.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't think Sansan fans are pedophiles, just the ones that ship Sandor with Sansa."

LMFAO

Actually, some of them age her up for future fics, and others are TVSanSans, where she's older.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah but people who ship the actual canon characters from the text are evil pedos, right?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
wow, way to be such a fucking ethnocentric

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, what? lol. It's now "ethnocentric" to think that grown men shouldn't date 11-year-old girls?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, that whole 'don't judge the natives because they're not capable of understanding morals' schtick pisses me off to no end.

You're a determined troll, I'll give you that.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, fuck her.
ext_74116: (Default)

[identity profile] visp.livejournal.com 2012-06-06 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
It depends why. If they just want more screen time for a favorite character, well, everyone wants that for whoever it is they like.

If they both thought SanSan was romantic in the books, but complain about the changes (to whit: TV Sandor hasn't yelled at, insulted, threatened to kill, threatened to rape, nearly did rape, or otherwise verbally abused Sansa) then yes, those are the crazier fans that I would advise OP avoiding if s/he wants to fangirl the actor and the character without decending into full-on Snapewives areas.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
So what would a non-crazy book!Sansan shipper be in your eyes?

[identity profile] visp.livejournal.com 2012-06-06 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
*shrug* Rather like the famous definition of obscenity, I know it when I see it.

Someone who didn't minimize, justify or romanticize his bad behavior would be a good start.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-06 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
So what if someone acknowledges his bad behavior but still likes the character and ships him with Sansa?
