My problem with the Elves at Helm's Deep is how those Elves with their fancy armour are all slaughtered while Legolas, with his leather shoulder pads, isn't even scratched.

This always bugged the crap out of me, too! I was all, "PJ, what is the point of having these nice, shiny elves in their nice, shiny armor march all the way to Helm's Deep if you're just going to slaughter them all?!?"

I don't remember the majority of that fight, but the scene with Haldir looking down at the bodies of his soldiers, dead in their beautiful armor, is forever stuck in my head.
