I was way more freaked out by the movie than by the books. I was kind of afraid to tell anyone, too, since I was really excited for the movie and took the night off from work special to go see the first showing.

And I did enjoy the movie and thought it was worth it but for several nights I had nightmares that I was in the arena. (Even though I'm decades beyond tribute age.)

Both me and my best (male) friend sort of looked at each other when the movie was over and agreed that it was a very "hard" film that was sometimes difficult to watch.

I think another thing is that most media (from video games to Hollywood movies) absolutely avoid showing kids getting killed. It's a taboo and most viewers are totally unaccustomed to see it.

But in any case - the movie really affected me (and I don't even want kids).
