[Stephen King's It]

(Anonymous) 2012-06-07 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never read or seen this movie but I've heard that all the boys end up fucking the one girl while they're all like 12. Which is why I've never seen or read the story, even though obviously it wouldn't be graphic. I hope.
True or not true?

It's true and it isn't graphic. They do it because the bond that protects them is disappearing and she understands that having sex with them is a way to create this bond again. I was 14 when I read it and it didn't squick me, I found it sweet. YMMV, though.

Sounds like a plot for a really bad porn or hentai scene lol.

[personal profile] helenadax 2012-06-07 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah, but it isn't as graphic XD

(Anonymous) 2012-06-07 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
it's not at all like that, though. it's a very emotional scene.

Yeah, it sounds totally gross when described but the scene actually manages to be sweet and meaningful. Weird, but I guess context is everything.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Idk dude, even with the ~reasoning it still seems really ... like unnecessary. But I'm not surprised, because it's King, and there's a lot of 'NO' in his books.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
definitely...but honestly that particular scene was probably one of the least disturbing things in that book.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly this. Even though the scene makes sense, there's no REASON for it to be there. It's just King tossing it in, like all the other skeevy sex stuff.

Oh very very true for the book. OMGWTFBBQ was my reaction. I read it in high school.

Not true in the movie. There were several other things they changed with the movie, not that I can remember any of it right now. But I saw the made-for-tv movie a couple of years after reading the book.

Movie memory = scary clown played by Tim Curry.

Book memory = everyone, have sex with the 12-year-old girl out of love and friendship to get rid of the eeeeevil spider / clown / alien / thing.

O_o

[personal profile] rabidsamfan 2012-06-07 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that part got left out of the movie. Been a while since I watched it. I have to say that I've read the book and watched the movie and while I wouldn't mind watching the movie again, I doubt I'll ever pick up the book again. It isn't a matter of it being a bad book, I just liked the characters better in the movie.

[identity profile] emthejedichic.livejournal.com 2012-06-08 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, It is one of my favorite books and I've read it a buch of times... but that part is really unnecessary IMO. Like, there must have been another way to keep them together.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
my 2c in contrast to everyone else: I found the scene physically nauseating and utterly, utterly repulsive. gave me bad feels, y'all.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-09 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
I... obviously didn't get that far? O.o And I think I'm okay with that! And I suddenly wanted to try reading it again when I first saw the secret... (It's a big book and I dropped my copy in a bath. But I think the scenes of It being really fucking freaky were much more interesting than the 'proper' plot, really.)

OMG is that little girl Emily Perkins?

I might need to watch that film now <3

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
NGL my first reaction was "With or without the preteen gangbang, OP?"

But since you have a picture from the movie, I'm going to guess you just mean the lifelong friendship and standing up to evil together, etc. Which is sweet. I generally enjoy the way King explores friendships among groups like that.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I find it interesting how many people have commented with some variation of 'a twelve-year-old girl gets screwed'. Technically true, but from what I remember of that book it was she who instigated and insisted upon it, and the boys who were freaked/uncertain/unsure. It isn't right to make her sound passive, or victimized.

[identity profile] emthejedichic.livejournal.com 2012-06-08 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
That's true, and one of the reasons the scene doesn't TOTALLY squick me.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
She wasn't passive or victimized. But she was still twelve. They all were. Kinda weird territory.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
In fact, IIRC, one of the boys begged not to do it, and she coerced the hell out of him. In the sweetest way possible, but... Coercion.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-08 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
typical male rape/underage is A okay apologists fantasy "she made me do it!" "girls grow up so fast these days"

SKEEEEEVE.
