God I miss the Spice Girls. I saw the movie once, when it was still in cinemas, and I still remember a lot of it fondly; the bomb on the bus, the scene where they're all imagining themselves as future parents... I usually hate nostalgia but the Spice Girls are the one 90s trip I can get in on.

That movie is FLAWLESS.

No, really, it's considered a cult classic, and not because it's so bad it's hilarious but because it's actually enjoyable. Critics only panned it because they were sick of Spice Girls to begin with. I mean, hello, these same critics thought Tomorrow Never Dies (made in the same year) was actually exciting and one of the better movies of the year. IDTS.

Fun story about that movie--

I went with a couple of friends to see Dark City at the dollar theater but it wasn't showing anymore so we settled on Spice World.

When Richard O'Brien (playing the sinister tabloid photographer) showed up out of nowhere in a trenchcoat all three of us fell over laughing. I leaned over and whispered "Hey, we didn't get to see Dark City, but close enough, right?"

We actually quite enjoyed ourselves, and didn't even need to add commentary to keep it interesting. Our expectations were so low to the ground that it couldn't help but be a pleasant surprise, really.

That is a fantastic movie and anyone who says otherwise needs fantasticness lessons. "Can we PLEASE leave butt and bums out of this...for one minute??"
